The London Transport Museum is housed in the Victorian flower market building in Covent Garden — a beautiful iron and glass structure that makes a perfect home for the museum’s collection of buses, trams, Tube trains and posters. It is one of London’s best specialist museums and often overlooked.
What’s Inside
Full-size vehicles on every floor — a Victorian steam locomotive, an original 1938 Tube train, a Routemaster bus you can board. The poster collection is extraordinary: London Transport’s design legacy in advertising is among the richest in the world, from the work commissioned by Frank Pick in the 1920s to contemporary commissions.
The Hidden London Tours
The museum runs Hidden London tours of ghost stations and other off-limits transport infrastructure. The Aldwych station tour, the Down Street bunker, and the postal railway under London are among the highlights. Tickets sell out very quickly.
