Borough Market, under the arches of London Bridge station, has been a centre of food trading since at least the 11th century. Today it is one of the finest food markets in the world — a cathedral of cheese, meat, bread, produce, and prepared food from every corner of the globe.

The Monmouth Coffee queue is the best in London. The Raclette Brothers melt cheese over everything. Kappacasein serves the definitive toasted cheese sandwich. The Ginger Pig’s sausage rolls are legendary. St John Bread and Wine have a stall. Arrive hungry with cash.
Best Days to Visit
The market is open Monday to Saturday. Saturday is the busiest day and has the most stalls. Weekday lunchtimes from Thursday onwards are good for avoiding crowds. The market is free to enter. Combine with a walk across London Bridge and through Bermondsey.
